Plate 12. View of Kaub towards Oberwesel
Color engraving of the village of Kaub (Caub) on the Rhine, toward Oberwesel, and the castles Pfalzgrafenstein and Gutenfels. The castle on the hill above the village of Caub (or Kaub), also known as Gutenfels Castle, was built in 1220. Like several other of the restored castles along the Rhine, it is now privately owned and functions as a hotel.
