Plate 16. View of the cloister Bornhofen and the castles Liebenstein and Sternenfels
Color engraving with a view of the cloister at Bornhofen on the Rhine River, and the castles Liebenstein and Sternenfels (Sterrenberg). These two castles are situated high above the Rhine but in very close proximity. The locals call them "the hostile brothers" based on the story that they were built by two feuding descendants of a king who argued over their inheritance.
