- Description in German / English translation: Diese Stadt gehört ebenfalls dem Churfürsten von der Pfalz, und ist eine der ältesten Städte in Deutschland. Sie war vormals eine Reichsstadt, wurde aber von Kaiser Karl IV im Jahre 1378 an den Pfalzgrafen Ruprecht überlassen. Sie hatte im Jahre 1689 dasselbe unglückliche Schicksal rnit Speyer und Worms, und ist noch jetzt nicht ganz hergestellt. Man sieht hier zur Linken auf dem Berg rückwarts der Stadt noch die Trümmer von dem ehmaligen berühmten Schlofs Landskron, das ebenfalls ein Opfer der Franzosen ward. Alle drey christlichen Religionsgenossen haben hier ihre Kirchen. Der gute Weinbau in dieser Gegend macht einen Hauptzweig ihres Handels aus. Weil dieses Städtchen bergan liegt, so ist die Luft hier sehr gesund. / This city also belongs to the Elector of the Palatine, and it is one of the oldest in Germany. It was formerly an imperial city but was given in 1378 by Emperor Charles IV to Count Palatine Ruprecht. It suffered the same sad fate as Speyer and Worms in 1689 and has not been restored completely yet. To the left one views on the mountain in the background the ruins of the former Castle Landskron, which also fell victim to the French. All three Christian denominations have churches here. Wine growing is a major part of its trade. Since the city is located on a hill, the air quality is particularly good.
