- Description in German / English translation: Nachdem der Rhein die kleine lnsel Neusatz vorbeygestrichen hat, kommt er auf die Reichsstadt Worms, die wir hier abgezeichnet finden. Sie liegt in der untern Pfalz jenseits des Rheins. Der Boden herum ist ungemein fruchtbar an Getreid und Rübsamenöhl. Es wachst auch hier der gute Wein, der unter dem Namen Liebenfrau-Milch bekannt ist. Auch diese Stadt hatte durch die Franzosen im Jahre 1689 sehr gelitten, und obwohl sie wieder erbaut wurde, finden sich doch noch viele öde Platze in derselben. Die hier in Mitte dieser Platte angezeichnete Kirche gehört den Protestanten, die sie im Jahre 1725 erbaut haben. Die Katholiken, obschon sie wenig an der Zahl sind, besitzen ausser der Domkirche noch vier andere, und die Lutheraner eine. Merkwürdige sind hier der so genannte Bischofhof und das Rathhaus, wo Luther im Jahre 1521 vor Kaiser Karl V auf dem Reichstag erschien. Worms ist übrigens noch durch den bekannten Tractat merkwürdig, der daselbst 1743 zwischen Maria Theresia England und Sardinien geschlossen ward. / After the Rhine passes the little island Neusatz, it reaches the imperial city of Worms, which we see depicted here. It is located in the Lower Palatine beyond the Rhine. The soil is very fertile with grain and rapeseed oil. The good wine, known under the name of Liebfrauenmilch, also grows here. Worms, too, suffered much under the French in 1689, and although it has been rebuilt, many desolate squares can still be found. The church visible in the middle of the plate belongs to the Protestants, who built it in the year 1725. The Catholics own, in addition to the cathedral, four more churches, although their numbers are low. The Lutherans claim one. Noteworthy are the so-called Bishop’s Court and the town hall, where Luther appeared in front of the Imperial Diet. Worms is also known for a treaty concluded between Maria Theresia, England, and Sardinia in 1743.
