- Although you could drive over, the best way was by the Key System ferry for ten cents. Admission to the Fair was 50 cents. The main exhibit halls were grouped around the 400 foot high Tower of the Sun. The 1939 fair ended on Oct. 29th with the world at war. There was a 1940 season from May 25th to Sept. 29th. The previous exposition in San Francisco. The Panama-Pacific of 1915 was also held during a world war the United States would enter.
