or to students with credit in Hist. 8B, 10, or equivalent. Interaction of
geographic, economic, political, and cultural forces in the transformation
of an agrarian society into a complex, industrial, urban order; emergence
of ideals and procedures known as the American way of life.
3B. American Government and Institutions (3)
Meets the United States Constitution requirement; federal, California State,
and local government. Not open to freshmen or to students with credit in
Pol. Sci. 1A-B or 101. Prerequisite: Soc. Sci. 3A or equivalent. Government
within the context of society; relevant studies in economics, sociology,
anthropology, history, psychology. Organized around a set of governmental
questions.
34. Problems of American Society (3)
Analysis of selected problems of American society; causes, effects, and
possible solutions.
41A-B. Current Affairs (2-2) (Former Hist. 41A-b)
Late entrance with permission of instructor for 1 unit. Subject matter for
class discussion taken from the daily newspapers and current magazines.
