Air Science Division (Air Sc)

1A-B. Basic Air Science (2-2)
Orientation to AFROTC program, history of aviation development, types of aircraft and basic principles of flight; fundamentals of global geography as a background for subsequent Air Force subjects; forces that develop tensions between world powers and problems of international security; armed forces as instruments of national security. Leadership, drill and exercise of command. (2 lecture, 1 lab hours)

2A-B. Basic Air Science (2-2)
Second year course for AFROTC. Elements of aerial warfare covering targets, weapons, delivery aircraft, the air ocean, bases and forces; USAF officer career fields, and personal and professional advantages offered by a career in the USAF; Air Force careers for airmen. Leadership, drill and exercise of command.

101A-B. Advanced Air Science (3-3)
Prerequisite: Air Sci. 1A-B, 2A-B or equivalent; of permission of professor of Air Science. Introduction to advanced AFROTC; the Air Force Commander and his staff; problem solving, communications and instruction techniques; military law; basic aerial navigation and weather maps and charts; typical air base organization and various base officers with functions of each. Leadership, drill and exercise of command.

101C. AFROTC Summer Camp (3)
Prerequisites: Air Sci. 101A-B or 102A-B. One month's training required for advanced students at designated Air Force installation to qualify for reserve commission. Summer training unit attendance normally precedes the senior year except that special provisions may apply to veterans. Summer training unit subjects include physical training; drill; individual weapons; familiarization flying; field exercise, USAF base activities; equipment and problems.

102A-B. Advanced Air Science (3-3)
Prerequisites: Air Sci. 101A-B or permission of Professor of Air Science. Principles of leadership and military management; career guidance; the military aspects of world political geography; military aviation and the evolution of war. (4 lecture, 1 lab hours)
