1. Art Forms (3)
Description and investigation of traditionaland contemporary art forms; discussion and studio projects. (6 lecture-lab hours)

5. History of Art 1 (4) (Former Art 119, to 12th Century)
One unit may be applied toward the general education written composition requirement but may not be applied on major, minor, or credential. Art history from prehistoric times to the 12th century. Assigned writing will consist of a minimum of 3,000 words. (6 lecture-lab hours, plus I hour arranged)

6. History of Art 11 (4) (Former Art 119, since 12th Century)
One unit may be applied toward the general education written composition requirement but may not be applied on major, minor, or credential. Art history from the 12th century to the present. Assigned writing will consist of a minimum of 3,000 words. (6 lecture-lab hours, I hour arranged)

20T. Studio Processes (3; max total see below)
May be repeated for credit in different areas. Corresponding areas not open to students with credit in Art 3, 9, 11, 14, 18, 40, 50, 55A, 55B, 101, 114, 116, 144. Sections designated for basic studio processes may include painting, ceramics, sculpture, photography, drawing, design, lettering, crafts, and printmaking. (6 lecture- lab hours)

60. Art Tours (3)
Students with more than 60 units should enroll in Art 160. Directed trips to galleries, museums, and other places of interest to the student of art; assigned papers, projects, and discussion. Chartered travel costs will be approximately $75.

Corresponding areas not open to students with credit in Art 119. May be repeated for credit in different areas. One unit may be applied toward the general education written composition requirement but may not be applied on the major, minor, or credential. Prerequisite: permission of instructor, Topics may include Renaissance, Pre-CoIumbian, American, 19,th century, 20th century, and Oriental art. Assigned writing will consist of a minimum of 3,000 words. (6 lecture-lab hours, 1 hour arranged)

Maximum of 12 units in one area may be applied to major. Prerequisite: corresponding Art 20T area or permission of instructor. Advanced study in content and expression; application of studio processes including areas offered in Art 20T; special sections in methods for elementary and secondary schools. (6 lecture-lab hours)

Prerequisite: permission of instructor. Curriculum development; implications of recent research and philosophic inquiry on the subjective dimensions of art education.

230. Seminar in Art History (3; max total 9)
Prerequisite: permission of instructor. Theory and concepts in the visual arts; patterns and technique of art criticism; preparation, oral presentation, and defense of critical papers.

240. Seminar in Art Studio (3; max total 15, max 9 in one area)
Prerequisite: permission of instructor. Opportunity to work individually with selected staff in areas of specializations: sculpture, design, ceramics, photography, drawing and painting. Concurrent obligation to periodic seminars as scheduled by the instructor.

260. Seminar in Art History (3; max total 9)
Prerequisites: 6 units of upper-division art history and permission of instructor. Research problems in art history. Group or individual inquiry as determined by instructor.
