George Studer's tailor shop, 1876

The hanging sign reads "George Studer, Merchant Tailor." The location is the intersection of what were then and for several decades Fresno's two main streets: Fulton and Mariposa. George Studer, 44, and his son, Albert, 8, are standing in the doorway. Studer's daughters, Isabel, 17, Emma, 12, Ida, 10 (Rollin's grandmother) lean against the wall, along with an unidentified girl, who may have been a neighbor. The second digital image, a closer detail, identifies Ida with a red arrow.
