Penny Postcard of the Anacapa Hotel, Ventura, CA circa 1900
Penny postcards were introduced in the United States in 1873, by Post Master John Creswell. This particular postcard is of the Anacapa Hotel, as it stood around 1900, on the corner of Main and Palm Streets, downtown Ventura. The Anacapa was completed in the fall of 1887 and was originally named, "The Hartman House."
