Wells Cathedral
As the first cathedral to be constructed with the pointed arch, Wells has a special significance. There are no traces of Anglo-Norman form or ornament, and the whole is marvelously proportioned. The remarkable scissor arches were inserted in 1340 after major alterations to the choir and the central tower had caused settlement to the piers at the crossing.
