Walk and balloon launch
The poster reads: '1977 (?) Walk and Balloon Launch Sunday May 1st. Meet 12:00, Avila Beach Parking Lot. (Captain Plutonium, Pu 239, drawn on poster). There will be a launch of 2,000 helium balloons at Diablo (Devil) Canyon Nuclear Power Plant. The experimental balloons following the wind paths off the ocean, will represent radioactivity released from the following causes, should Diablo be permitted to open: 1. Radioactivity released from regular plant operations. 2. Radioactivity released from any number of possible human or mechanical accidents. 3. Radioactivity released by a major earthquake for which the plant was not designed. A follow up study will plot where the balloons landed. Organized by PEOPLE AGAINST NUCLEAR POWER in support of the New England Clam Shell Alliance who will occupy the seabrook. Nuclear Power Plan construction site, beginning April 30, Seabrook, New Hampshire. Bring a picnic lunch, RALLY with MUSIC and SPEAKERS.'
