Mack & The Boys mural

Photograph of the mural of Mack & The Boys on a wall on Bruce Ariss Way in Cannery Row, Monterey, California. Mack & The Boys were the semi-employed, semi-alcoholic gang in Steinbeck's novel "Cannery Row". A 1935 black-and-white photo, snapped in a vacant lot across from Doc Ricketts" lab, inspired the full-color mural by Salinas artist John Cerney that is now on permanent display on the back wall of Mackerel Jack"s Trading Co., along the Recreation Trail between Prescott and Irving streets in Monterey.
