Bristol Cathedral

The high vault of Bristol choir has additional cross ribs added at the point where the span between tierceron ribs is greatest. These, known as lierne ribs, were later to be developed into spectacular star and net vaults, but here, in an elementary form, they were the first of their kind to be used in such a major undertaking.
