Legionary Fortress
The earlier barrack blocks and administrative buildings, built of timber, were replaced with stone structures in about 100 C.E. and then were rebuilt 250 years later. Each block consisted of a row of double rooms to house a hundred men, with six to eight men to each pair. The larger room was for sleeping; the smaller room stored arms and equipment. At the end of the block, a suite of rooms accommodated the centurion and his staff.
