Salisbury Cathedral

Construction of the new cathedral was continuous and employed bands of masons under Nicholas of Eley. Over 40,000 marks, equal to mulitple millions of Euros at present, was expended. So high is the standard of masonry, that the courses run in even bands right around the building. The Salisbury west front incorporates rows of integrated sculpture on a smaller scale than does Wells, and in not so three-dimensional a manner, but the total integration of the structure with its purpose, and the balance struck by its various components are superb.
