In the garden pavilion, the indication of the Italian influences is more obvious than on the house itself. The romantic nature of the pavilions and ornaments combine the Gothic and the classical. The high stone finials reflect the shape of corn dollies- ornaments placed at the peaks of thatch roofs in ancient times to ward off evil spirits.
