Wells Cathedral

Wells cathedral also built a Lady Chapel at this time. Octagonal on plan, it was roofed with a complex lierne vault which takes vaulting a stage further in development from Bristol and from Ely. By realizing the logical intersection of tierceron springing from each of the eight piers, the Wells masons formed a structural net. The painted decoration is probably contemporary work.
