Lincoln Cathedral

After the collapse of the tower, the piers supporting it were rebuilt with additional stone and marble shafts, giving increased strength. The stronger support given by the rebuilt bay nearer to the tower can also be clearly seen. This readiness to accept failure and take it as an opportunity for improvement is again evident at Lincoln in the development of the vaulting.
