[Students sitting on lawn]
Students, staff, and Robert E. Kennedy sitting at what is now known as the Howes Memorial, on the Three Acre Lawn (now known as the O'Neill Green), in front of the second administration building. The photo was taken in 1944 for publicity purposes, and the women are most likely staff at Cal Poly. Kennedy records the history of this photo in his memoirs Learn by Doing, page 99: http://digital.lib.calpoly.edu/rekl-16279?solr_nav[id]=d1e238a8782cd64892bb&solr_nav[page]=0&solr_nav[offset]=0#page/114/mode/2up This photo can also be found here: http://calpoly.saas.dgicloud.com/rekl-3329
