Bristol Cathedral
The effect of raising the aisles to the full height is to allow an abundance of side lighting, in place of the more usual top light afforded by the normal clerestory stage. The supporting piers also are of new design in that they have only the minimum of capital, and although largely still consisting of clustered shafting, there is a high degree of continuous molding which carries right around the high arch.
