Penny Postcard Image of Annual Summer Chautauqua Encampment

At the end of the nineteenth and the early decades of the twentieth century visitors would visit the Chautauqua Encampment annually for a week of summer activities. This image is representative of what is now Ventura Beach State Park at Pierpont Bay.
