Vanessa Dee COVID-19 Photograph in Dorm, "Stuck"

Photograph of Vanessa Dee working at a desk. The contributor writes, "This picture was taken in the Campus Village Apartments and captures me sitting in the corner of my living room. The glass sliding door to my right, overlooks a church and the busy street below. When COVID-19 started to break the news and classes were moved to online, I had initially left to go back home in San Diego to spend time with family and have help them at home. I soon found out that focusing on school at home was challenging, being that I was out of my typical studying environment and had little room to myself to focus. I then left back to San Jose to live back in the dorms on campus in hopes to get back into as much of my normal schedule as I could. By being unable to talk to my friends from work and go out to study, I found myself very alone in my room. As much as I would try to go outside and exercise, I began to eat less food throughout the day and was unable to sleep at night. On the day this picture was taken, I had stood up to check the weather outside before I went on a run and I instantly fainted and woke up with no recollection. I had a concussion, some bruises and a split lip, but that was my wake up call to reach out for help and talk to my professors. My friend came over later that day and took this picture of me while I was working on a research paper and listening to upbeat music, to capture the moment of growth and positivity."
