Dr. Ernesto Galarza Scholarship Symposium Program 1996

Program for the 12th Annual Dr. Ernesto Galarza Symposium and Scholarship Ceremony, held at San Jose State University on Thursday, April 11, 1996 at 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM. The Mistress of Ceremonies was Nohemi S. Alarcon (KDTV Television, South Bay Bureau Reporter). This event included a Social Mixer, Opening Remarks by Ric Abeyta (Director of the Department of Public Safety, SJSU), Welcome by Don W. Kassing (Vice President for Administration, SJSU), Keynote by José Antonio Burciaga (Artist, Author, and Activist), Presentation of Scholarships by Ms. Deanna Gonzales, and Closing Comments. Fifteen awards were presented: Calmeca Project Scholarship, Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity Scholarship, GI Forum Scholarship, KDTV "EXITO ESCOLAR" Scholarship (2 awards), Pueblo de San José Kiwanis Club Scholarship (3 awards), Dr. George Castro (College of Science SJSU)/IBM Scholarship (2 awards), Latino Pride Scholarship – Quantrum Siemens/Rolm Communications, Applied Materials, Inc. (2 awards), Chicano/Latino Faculty and Staff Association Scholarship, Cesar Chavez Memorial Scholarship, and Dr. Ernesto Galarza Endowment Scholarship.
