Meare Fish House

Built adjacent to Glastonbury Abbey Fisheries , to accommodate the keeper, this house also indicates the problem which religious communities had at this time, of holding their own. Its internal arrangement consists of a kitchen and two small rooms on the ground floor, entered from the tower of two entrances. The upper floor, containing the principal room, or hall, was reached from an outside timber stair via the second entrance. Between the two entrances are the remains of the chimney base, serving kitchen and hall.
