Penny Postcard of San Buenaventura, CA
Penny postcards were introduced in the United States in 1873, by Post Master John Creswell. This postcard was created from one of the earliest photographs of San Buenaventura taken in 1875. The back of the card states that it was made in the USA and published by J.R. Brakey but it likely that the color reproduction was done in Germany. Note the belltower of the San Buenaventura Mission of the left.
