This event included a Reception for Dr. Albert Camarillo (Professor of History, Stanford University and Executive Director, Nation-wide Program for Latino Research), Literary Display of Dr. Galarza's Works, Introduction of President Fullerton by José Villa (Professor, School of Social Work and President, Hispanic Faculty and Staff Association), Welcome by Dr. Gail Fullerton (President, SJSU), Introduction by Dr. Anthony Soto (Professor, School of Social Work and Symposium Chairperson), Introduction of Keynote Speaker by Dr. Alexander Sapiens (Professor, School of Education), Keynote by Dr. Albert Camarillo, Presentation of Awards by Mr. Carl Vigil (Director, Telecommunication, SJSU), given to Ms. Aurora Quevedo (Director, Instructional Program, San José State Unified School District) and Mr. Victor Garza (Program Manager, Veterans Service Officer, County of Santa Clara and Chairperson, San José American GI Forum), and Closing Comments by Professor Jose Villa. Three awards were presented: Kiwanis Galarza Scholarship (Presented by Mr. Mike Arredondo - President, Pueblo de San José Kiwanis), Mexican American Community Services Association (MACSA) Scholarship (Presented by Mr. George Soto – President, Board of Mexican American Community Services), and Hispanic Faculty and Staff Association Scholarship (Presented by Dr. Consuelo Rodriguez – Associate Dean and Educational Equity Chair, Galarza Endowment Fund).
