The aisle vaulting at Bath Abbey presents a further advance in that the space where the fans meet is filled with a pendant. This gives a similar structural effect to that thrusts. Spans up to fifty feet could be panel sections of great strength and lightness and under the Tudors, the system was exploited to become a highly spectacular event.
