Excavation and construction by the San Jose Water Company

View of a large scale construction project under the San Jose Water Company. From the far left to the center a large excavation of earth is underway using steam powered earth movers. Center right, a man can be seen wetting part of the excavation site with a hose, further right a horse drawn water tank stands on an earth embankment. A large flattened area surrounded by wooden forms can be found in the center of photograph, this area was probably a cement cap to protect an underground water reservoir from contaminants. To the right of the water tower, there are numerous piles of gravel. The excavation site was probably intended as another reservoir to store water.
