Camarillo State Hospital Legislature Construction
This document discusses the commencement of the Camarillo State Hospital in 1929. The state legislature needed $1,000,000.00 for the establishment of a new mental hospital in Southern California. The selected site for the construction of the Camarillo State Hospital began in a 1,648 acres located 4 1/2 miles south of Camarillo which was purchased for about $425,000.000. The site was a portion of the old Lewis Ranch property which dates back in early California history.
