Dr. Ernesto Galarza Scholarship Symposium Program 1997

Program for the 13th Annual Dr. Ernesto Galarza Symposium and Scholarship Ceremony, held at San Jose State University on Wednesday, April 23, 1997 at 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM. The Master of Ceremonies was Xavier "X-Man" Soriano (Wild 107.7 Radio Personality). This event included a Social Mixer, Opening Remarks by Linda Ortega (Assistant Director, Student Outreach and Recruitment), Welcome by Gabe Reyes (Special Assistant to the President), Keynote by Ruben Diaz (Assistant Sheriff, Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department), Presentation of Scholarships, and Closing Remarks. Eleven awards were presented: Chicano/Latino Faculty and Staff Association Scholarship, José Antonio Burciaga Memorial Scholarship, Pueblo de San José Kiwanis Club Scholarship (2 awards), Cesar Chavez Memorial Scholarship, KDTV "EXITO ESCOLAR" Scholarship, Nu Alpha Kappa "Pedro R. Tapia" Memorial Scholarship, Calmeca Project Scholarship, and Marisol Perez Memorial Scholarship.
