Photograph of Steinbeck Portrait

Photograph of John Steinbeck's portrait, done in artists's studio on Huckleberry Hill after Steinbeck''s return from Mexico. He thought having to sit for a portrait would force him to focus on writing Sea of Cortez. Judith Deim (nee Barbara Stevenson) worked on his portrait at the same time. Steinbeck rejected this painting, forcing Graham to re-do it to receive payment (see 1 241). Digital copy only. No hard copy.
