Philharmonic Society, seventh concert, London, Monday, June 8, 1840
Program for a concert by the London Philharmonic Society, June 8, 1840, lead by Mr. F. Cramer and conducted by Mr. Bishop. Beethoven works on the program included the "Sonata Concertante" ("Kreutzer") for piano and violin performed by Franz Liszt and Ole Bull and the Symphony in B-flat Major, Opus 60. Other works included the Symphony in E-flat Major by Joseph Strauss; the aria "O Vaterland" from Fernand Cortez by Spontini; the aria "En vain j'espere" from Robert le Diable by Meyerbeer; the Overture "Parisina" by W.S. Bennett; the aria "Der Kriegeslust" from Jessonda by Spohr; etudes by Moscheles and the March Hongroise performed by Liszt; the aria "Des l'enfance" from Le Serment by Aubert; and the Overture to Die Zauberflöte by Mozart. Includes texts of the vocal works.
