Bath Abbey

The great east window and the tall clerestory windows fill the interior with light. The reduction of fabric, and the substitution of glass for wall , reaches a peak of void to solid in proportions of six to one, a ratio not exceeded in any other aisled church of the Middle Ages. The shell-like vaulting of the roof effects a lightness and rigidity which is similarly unequalled, and the interior space at once reflects the outside form.
