City Bakery & Café interior
Interior of the restaurant portion of City Bakery and Popular Café. George Pickford bought the business in the mid-1890s with his brother-in-law, George Kohler. Later, Pickford bought Kohler's interest and installed his son, Rollin A. Pickford Sr. (the artist's father) as manager. In its heyday, the bakery produced and sold 1,100 loves of bread per day. The restaurant offered fine dining.
