Caption: The play by René Fauchois, adapted by Mr. Louis Napoleon Parker, was produced on November 25, with sir Herbert Tree as the great composer. This picture represents the moment when Beethoven realizes that he is becoming deaf- the greatest tradgedy for a master of sound- for he has not heard a note of the violin. The figure in the background at the left is that of Beethoven's aristocratic patron.
