Jane Tolmach for California Assembly 36th District
This document includes Jane Tolmach's written statement on firearms policy and her completed 1976 questionnaire for the California Rifle and Pistol Association. In her statement, she argues that gun legislation must balance public safety with the rights of law-abiding citizens, supporting tougher criminal penalties, firearms registration to aid law enforcement, and regulation of certain handgun sales, while opposing an outright ban that would create a black market. On the CRPA questionnaire, she indicates opposition to broad mandatory licensing and registration of all firearms and handguns, opposes banning handgun ownership by the general public, supports regulated sport hunting, and affirms the individual right to own firearms. The accompanying CRPA letter explains that candidate responses would be published statewide in sportsmen's publications prior to the 1976 election.
