Salisbury Cathedral
The high vaulting at Salisbury was similarly restrained. It follows the proved design of Well's nave and has none of the adventurous spirit of Lincoln. Nevertheless, the whole cathedral was built on a virgin site within sixty years, and the choir, transepts and nave were consecrated in 1258, only thirty-eight years after work began.
