Finally, before making a study of the domestic and military architecture of the period, we should see the richness of contemporary vestments, here displayed in the undercroft of the Chapter House at Wells. Such clothing, still common throughout Christendom, has a continuous history from the earliest days of the Church and is as much a part of Gothic art as the window glass, manuscript, painting and architecture which helped to make up the medieval world.
