Mary Ann Hooley Pickford

Mary Ann Hooley Pickford (1828-1917) was Rollin's great grandmother. This charcoal portrait was sketched by the subject's daughter-in-law, Ida Studer Pickford sometime during the 1880s. The frame is original to that period and was probably hand made in Fresno using commercial molds. A December 26, 1890 article on p.7 of the Fresno Republican newspaper describes an art exhibition that included charcoal portraits by Ida Studer Pickford.
