- "Daß die hier unter Glas und Rahmen befindliche Haarlocke, von mir eingenhändig drei Tage vor seinem Tode, Beethoven abgeschnitten worden ist, bescheinigt hiermit. Betty Hummel." [Translation]: Hereby is certified that the lock of hair, here situated under glass and frame, was cut with my own hand from Beethoven three days before his death. Betty Hummel."
