The Feathers Inn
There was a great increase in travel during this period. The royalty, in particular, went into the country and the people of the kingdom gained a new awareness of their rulers. Trade and education also demanded travel and, since the monasteries had been disenfranchised, they no longer had beds available for travelers. Of necessity, then, inns were built in each town.
