University Archives
User Collection PublicThis collection traces CSU Channel Islands' history from its point of conception in 1974 as "The Learning Center" in Ventura to CSUN @Ventura and CSUN @Channel Islands and finally, to its 2002 emergence as the new 23rd campus of the CSU and the present. The collection also includes a bit of material on the former Camarillo State Hospital (transfer of the land; SEE also the Jack O'Connell Collection). This is an ongoing and developing collection; both physical and digital materials are consistently added to reflect the growth of CSU Channel Islands. The digital collection contains founding documents, memorabilia, photographs, and oral histories. Finding guides regarding the Academic Affairs and Student Affairs departments are also located here. For information regarding CSUCI's transition, please see the database Los Angeles Times Proquest on the Library's website. Enter the search term CSUN at Ventura and enter dates 1991-1999. Materials regarding the former Camarillo State Hospital are located in the University Archives. If you are planning on conducting an oral history, click on Oral History Help below.
