Bath Abbey

Parts of the temple pediment at Bath include this winged head with snakes, supported by two winged Victories. It is suggested that this was a Romanized local deity, but it may also be a variation of Medusa. In any event, it affords evidence of the high standards of performance achieved in Roman provincial architecture.
