CSUCI Course Modality Overview

CSUCI offers courses across eleven categories, which fall into three modalities: online, blended or hybrid, and in person. Under these three modality definitions, courses are identified in the following ways:

Online courses include: asynchronous instructional course section can be offered anywhere (no campus meetings) - AB386; synchronous instructional course section can be offered anywhere (no campus meetings) - AB386; asynchronous instructional course section (orientation, mid-term, final campus meetings allowed) - federal Distance Education; synchronous instructional course section (orientation, mid-term, final campus meetings allowed) - federal Distance Education; asynchronous instructional course section can be offered anywhere (no campus meetings) with synchronous instructional course section can be offered anywhere (no campus meetings) - AB386 - aka Hybrid (NEW beginning Summer 2015); and asynchronous instructional course section (orientation, mid-term, final campus meetings allowed) with synchronous instructional course section (orientation, mid-term, final campus meetings allowed) - federal Distance Education - aka Hybrid (NEW beginning Summer 2015).
